In the past few weeks the entire SEO community was mainly hooked to the Penguin update. Now, there is something from the biggest search engine which will surely divert their attention from the Penguin update. Google has come up with a fresh report regarding how the search engine giant combats piracy and followed up with the DMCA algorithm update. The update emerges after two years when the DMCA algorithm also known as the Pirate algorithm was released in 2012.
Over the years, the piracy market has spread its trap widely and vehemently with several sites practicing the illegal way of sharing videos, music, games and more. The entertainment industry is hugely affected by this practice. In order to put an end to this illegal practice, Google launched the Pirate algorithm two years back. It was aimed to identify and demote the websites that obtained official copyright elimination notices and also, to help consumers stream content from genuine and lawful sources.
With the recent DMCA algorithm update being rolled out, many sites that are into the practice of illegitimate sharing of content without any approval from the owner’s side have experienced noticeable drops in ranking. This indicates that Google is taking accurate steps to prevent the rampant rule of such sites.
